Polar Park
Narvik

by coach & on foot
Encounter some of the Arctic region’s most iconic wildlife on this experience to the northernmost wildlife park in the world.
Joining your coach on the pier, your experience begins with a sightseeing drive through the centre of Narvik - a young town founded in 1902 with the opening of the railway line from Sweden to the ice-free harbour of Narvik. The railway was built first and foremost to facilitate the transportation of iron ore year round, but it has also become very popular among tourists that visit the area. The town is located in an attractive setting near Ofotfjord, with a backdrop of impressive peaks.
Head north, crossing the new Hålogaland Bridge with an impressive view of the narrow fjord where fierce battles took place during the Second World War. You’ll drive for around an hour through typical mountain scenery, with birch trees and charming log cabins. This is a very popular recreation area for the people of Narvik during both summer and winter.
Your destination is Polar Park – located at 69o north, it is the northernmost wildlife park in the world and one of northern Norway’s most popular tourist attractions.
With 1,100 acres divided into just 12 enclosures, Polar Park offers the world’s largest area per animal, giving each species plenty of space to roam in their natural environment. The park is home to the four main predators of the Nordic region – wolves, bears, lynx and wolverine, as well as iconic Arctic species such as Arctic fox, moose, reindeer and musk ox.
After enjoying the beautiful surroundings and the animals, enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee with some cake, before rejoining your coach for the return drive to Narvik.
