Trondheim by Tram & Coach
Trondheim

by tram, coach & on foot
This experience offers an opportunity to enjoy a ride on the world’s northernmost tram line!
Founded by Viking King Olav Tryggvason in 997 AD, Trondheim became Norway’s capital during the Middle Ages. Today, it is the third-largest city in Norway and is one that is rich in history and culture.
Your tour begins with a journey from the pier to Ila tram station, where you will board the Grakall-Line Tram. Opened in 1924, it is the world’s northernmost tram system, running 8.8km (5.4 miles) from the town centre to Lian in the forested nature reserve of Bymarka. The approximately 30-minute tram ride takes you past picturesque wooden houses, old fortifications, and provides splendid views of modern Trondheim.
Rejoining the coach, your journey continues through both the new and old parts of the town. You will pass by the Market Square with its impressive statue of King Olav Tryggvason, Nidaros Cathedral, and the picturesque, red-painted Old Town Bridge before returning to the pier.
