Trondheim on Foot
Trondheim

on foot
Founded by Viking King Olav Tryggvason in 997 AD, Trondheim is Norway’s third most populated city, situated at the River Nid's estuary.
From the pier, your guide will lead you on a walk towards the city centre, passing the Royal Residence of Stiftsgården, Scandinavia's largest wooden building. You will cross the market square, with its statue of the Viking King, and continue up Munk Street to the Nidaros Cathedral to admire it impressive façade. Next to the cathedral you will see the Archbishop's Palace.
Your walk continues towards the river where you will cross the bright red old drawbridge (‘Gamle Bybro’), and head down the riverbank street lined with traditional old warehouses. From the bridge, take pictures of Kristiansten Fortress on the hill.
Cross the bridge and continue your city walk along the canal that forms part of the River Nid, returning to the pier.
