Departing from the pier, your adventure begins with an approximately one-hour drive up Dominica’s west coast road to Portsmouth.

Here you will begin your journey on a wooden rowboat, where you will be hand-oared up the Indian River, named after the settlements of the indigenous Kalinago who once lived on the upper banks of the river.

Along the way you will see mangroves, tropical trees, exotic birds and wildlife as you pass silently by. You will float past the ‘House of Calypso’, one of the sites where scenes from the ‘Pirates of Caribbean’ were filmed. Your guide will tell you all about this unique water wonderland, its stunning green flora and fauna and its native wildlife.

During the boat ride, a stop will be made at the rustic Indian River Bush Bar for you to enjoy a rum punch or fruit juice before the return boat ride to Portsmouth. Here you will rejoin your bus for the transfer back to Roseau.
