Martha Brae River Bamboo Rafting

On this unique experience, you will visit one of the most picturesque places in Jamaica — the ‘Land of Wood and Water’. Enjoy a scenic drive along the coast and see the rural lifestyle of Jamaica on your way to a rafting centre on the Martha Brae River.Upon arrival at the rafting centre, you will be greeted with a complimentary tropical drink. Following brief instructions, you will join your bamboo raft built for two and glide slowly down the river as it meanders gently through whispering groves of bamboo and ferns, whilst listening to the chatter of birds.

Your 9m (30ft) long bamboo raft will make its way past shaded banks and dappled sunlight as the mild river breeze washes over you. As you float along the river, hear the alleged story of Martha Brae, the magical Taino maiden whom the Spanish colonists tortured to reveal the location of a secret gold mine. Relax in an atmosphere of tranquillity over the 4.8km (3 mile) journey before arriving at the Rafter’s Rest.

Following your rafting experience, you will rejoin your bus for the return drive to Ocho Rios. If time permits, a short stop will be made at a nearby shopping centre for an opportunity to purchase a souvenir of your visit to Jamaica.
