Lisbon Highlights & Cascais

This relaxing experience introduces you to the highlights of Portugal’s capital from the comfort of your coach, combined with some free time to enjoy the town of Cascais.

Departing from the port, your journey will take you to King Edward VII Park in the north of the city. Here you will have a photo stop where you can enjoy the view over Lisbon, and in the distance the River Tagus.

Your journey continues towards the popular resort of Cascais, the best-known town on this part of the coast, known as the Portuguese Riviera. Although it is now a popular tourist destination, Cascais has retained much of its original charm, having been transformed from a simple fishing village to the meeting point for high society every summer at the end of the 19th century.

Following a brief orientation from your guide, you will have approximately one hour of free time to explore the area around the bay, stroll around the old town, purchase some refreshments or browse the shops for a souvenir of your visit.

The return drive to the ship is along the beautiful scenic road of the Tagus coastline. At the mouth of the harbour, you will enter Belém– Lisbon’s famous monument district, celebrating the glorious days of sea voyages. From afar, you can see the Belém Tower and the gothic Jeronimos Monastery. A photo stop will be made near the spectacular memorial to Prince Henry the Navigator, from where you will also be able to admire in the distance the grand 25th April Bridge and the ‘Christ the King’ statue, dominating the southern bank of the Tagus.
