Bamboo Rafting on the Martha Brae River

During this experience, you will visit one of the most picturesque places in Jamaica, the ‘Land of Wood and Water’. You will enjoy a scenic drive along the coast and see Jamaica’s rural lifestyle on your way to the Martha Brae rafting centre, where you will be greeted with a welcome tropical drink. Here you will join your bamboo raft built for two and glide slowly down the river as it meanders gently through whispering groves of bamboo and ferns, whilst listening to the chatter of birds.

Your 9m (30ft)-long bamboo raft will make its way past shaded banks and dappled sunlight as the mild river breeze washes over you. As you float along the river, you will hear the story of Martha Brae, the magical Taino maiden whom the Spanish colonists allegedly tortured to reveal the location of a secret gold mine. You can relax in an atmosphere of tranquillity over the 4.8km (3 mile) journey before arriving at the Rafter’s Rest.

Rejoining your bus, a stop will be made at Main Street Rose Hall, where you will have some free time to browse the shops for souvenirs before you are transported back to the port.
