Dunn’s River Falls Adventure with Lunch
Montego Bay

by coach/coaster bus & on foot
Dunn’s River Falls is believed to be the site of the famous battle of ‘Las Chorreras’, which was fought in 1657 between the Spanish and the English for possession of the island of Jamaica. The English won, and under British rule ‘Las Chorreras’ was first owned by Charles Pryce. The site later became part of the 276-acre Belmont property, which was acquired by the Jamaican Government in 1972 to provide future development of recreational and park facilities.
Described as a living and growing phenomenon, the waterfall continuously regenerates itself from deposits of travertine rock, which is the result of the precipitation of calcium carbonate from the river as it flows over the falls. The small dome-shaped cataracts are usually associated with thermal spring activity found in limestone caves.
You will be able to experience the thrill of hiking up the waterfall in a human chain led by an experienced ‘Falls’ guide. If you prefer, you may view the activities of the hikers from the decks along the waterfall. Alternatively, you might choose to relax at the beachfront on the golden sands, hang out at the splash pad by the waterslides or just lose yourself in the tropical foliage of ferns, bamboos, ginger lilies, palms and breadfruit trees.
After visiting the waterfall, you will be treated to a Jamaican lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the ship.
