Not good, I made a mistake thinking I was booking for this year when in fact I was booking for next year. I rang immediately (within 30 minutes) to cancel or transfer the booking. I was informed I would forfeit all my £400 deposit if I cancelled but that I could transfer my deposit; I was given a contact number to find an alternative cruise and rebook.
When I had done so I called back to be informed I would still forfeit half my deposit and that the oceanview cabin I had selected had been changed to a balcony cabin, and that the outstanding balance was much more than for the cruise originally booked. Given this cruise is shorter than the one booked in error to the same location, takes place later in the year and starts and finishes in different ports, I cannot understand why it is costing nearly twice as much as the one originally booked. Additionally, the 'colleague' who was extremely pleasant throughout our two telephone calls, promised to call me back twice by a certain time after he'd spoken to line managers and didn't do so; the first time I called him and the second call didn't materialise at all. I shall be calling in the morning.
The problem I have is why I have to forfeit part of my deposit for a cruise not departing until July 2027, when I agreed to transfer my booking and why the shorter cruise is more expensive and I cannot book the cabin grade I selected when it is still available online.
