I’ve worked closely with juveniles, men and women and have many stories to tell. I’m joined by my husband Ian, a retired police dog handler, who for 40 years has been my organist in churches and prison.

Dr. Chris Martin is a 69 - year-old medicolegal consultant and medical lawyer. His initial training was in science and medicine before he transferred to law at the age of 35 having seen issues in medicine which created legal implications. He completed his LLB degree in 1997 before opening his own medicolegal practice involving medicolegal, personal injury, clinical negligence litigation and Inquest work which he successfully ran for 12 years. His academic qualifications include a B.Sc. (Hons) Biochemistry, B.S. (Hons) Medicine, LL. B, LL.M, LL.D, Certificate in Medicine and Law, CIArb (Mediator), as well as being a Civil Mediation Council Registered Mediator specialising in hospital disputes and claims resulting from clinical negligence as well as Coroner and Inquests matters.
His Master’s dissertation was on DNA and the Law and his Doctoral dissertation was on HIV / AIDS Law and Policy.
He is now a medicolegal consultant and lawyer to the medical and legal professions within the public and private sectors involving support, advice, training and guidance as well as liaising with law firms and compiling preliminary screening reports for possible litigation.
Chris lived and worked in South Africa for 25 years, 18 years in Durban and 7 years in Cape Town.
He is also:
Member of Counsel for the Medicolegal Society of Great Britain (2017 - 2022).
Tutor in Medical Law and Ethics at Manchester University Law School (2011 - 2012).

Professor Glenn Patrick CPhys, FInstP, FRAS, FRGS is a particle physicist who has spent most of his career working on the massive particle accelerators at the CERN Laboratory in Geneva. Until recently, he was studying the subtle differences between matter and anti-matter deep underground at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) – the biggest machine on the planet! He is now an Honorary Scientist at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near to Oxford and is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, the Royal Astronomical Society and the Royal Geographical Society.
Glenn is also well known as an engaging science communicator and has won grants for his outreach work. He gives inspirational public talks to schools, science cafes, festivals and cruise lines where he specialises in exploring physics, cosmology, astronomy and the earth sciences in everyday language. As a Visiting Professor at the University of Portsmouth and also a Tutor with the Open University, he has a unique perspective which enables him to bring the beauty of the natural world and the mysteries of the physical universe closer to us.

Barbara is an experienced craft tutor on cruise lines with a passion for running arts and craft days and retreats in the UK.
With 30 years of teaching, training teachers in D & T skills shows that she is able to manage a classroom, abilities levels and ages. With a passion to share and instil confidence in learners allowing them to discover their creative side and getting the best results whilst having a fun sociable experience, her aim is to help to enrich the cruising experience of the guests on-board.
A great advocate for recycling materials with a list of fun activities, avoiding the use of plastics, using magazines, leaflets, glass bottles, textiles etc. She has a comprehensive list of activities.

Jayne Hood
Crafter
Jayne offers crafting classes with a more modern approach using recycled and everyday items to produce attractive results as well as more traditional crafts. Over the years, Jayne has familiarised herself with all kinds of handicrafts from Faberge eggs, papercraft, and needlecraft. She has attended and given craft courses, culminating in attaining a formal teaching qualification for working designs. Jayne is a trustee for a local Civic Society, an enthusiastic wardrobe mistress for the pantomime group and a member of several U3A groups. She has refurbished several homes using her interior design and soft furnishing skills.

As Head of Art Mike taught art to A level, was LEA Curriculum Co-ordinator for art before developing his own Educational Services Business to assist Heads of Art with Curriculum and preparation for OFSTED Inspections.
He established an LEA Centre for Art & Design running courses for Heads of Art before moving to work on cruises.

I am 69 and have been playing bridge for years. I was born and brought up in the Outer Hebrides and I maintain a strong connection to the islands. My career as a nurse was extremely enjoyable and successful and I continue to have a great deal of contact with colleagues and friends.
Although my main interest is bridge I also enjoy sailing especially the west coast of Scotland and other hobbies include hill walking and travelling.

European Union’s (EU) new Entry/Exit System (EES) and what this means for Ambassador’s guests
In alignment with the latest guidance, we can confirm that guests sailing on board Ambassador Cruise Line’s no-fly sailings will not be impacted by the European Union’s (EU) new Entry/Exit System (EES) during their trip.
This new digital border system, which first began on 12 October 2025, changes the requirements for British citizens travelling to a Schengen Area country with travellers using a UK passport now required to register biometric details, such as fingerprints and a photo, upon arrival.
However, cruise passengers embarking and disembarking a sailing in the UK are not required to go through this new process.
This means that guests of Ambassador’s no-fly sailings – which all depart from and return to one of seven UK regional ports, namely, London Tilbury, Newcastle, Dundee, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol Royal Portbury and Portsmouth – need not fret about the new EES requirements before, during or after travelling with us.
Customer feedback consistently highlights how much our guests value being able to start their holiday with a minimum of hassle, given the convenience of embarking from a port that’s close to home – meaning no need to worry about airport queues, baggage restrictions or flight cancellations. The fact that guests on board any of Ambassador’s no-fly sailings will now also not be impacted by the new EES requirements is yet another advantage.
With an array of itineraries to breathtaking destinations across the Schengen Area, from sun-washed Gijon on Spain’s northern coast to Norway’s Alta, a prime Northern Lights hunting destination, Ambassador’s no-fly sailings allow guests to enjoy the ‘warmest welcome at sea’ with the added benefit of not needing to worry about the new EES system.

When will I get my tickets?
Ambassador is a ticketless cruise line, so we will not issue guests with a physical cruise ticket. Instead, once within 90 days of departure (but no later than 24 hours before sailing), all guests are required to submit their API (Advance Passenger Information) to us via our website, by visiting our My Ambassador Sailing facility or via the Ambassador Cruise Line App.
Once this information has been submitted, you will be able to log in to ‘My Ambassador Sailing’ to check in online and to download your boarding pass and final documentation once online check-in opens, 72 hours before sailing.
What is the dress code on board?
During the day, we suggest that you wear casual clothing for your comfort. For the evenings on board, every day the Daily Programme suggests, as a guide, a mode of dress for that particular evening’s events.
There are generally two ‘formal’ or gala nights planned every 7-12 nights when many gentlemen wear dinner jackets, although a lounge suit is quite acceptable. Ladies on these occasions have a chance to dress up and often opt for evening or cocktail dresses. Please note that jeans, T-Shirts, shorts and open neck shirts are not permitted in the main restaurant on Formal or Gala evenings.
On evenings proposed as ‘smart’, a suit or smart jacket and trousers, with or without a tie, for the men is suggested and the ladies have further opportunities to look elegant in cocktail dresses or trouser suits.
A ‘casual’ recommendation often covers evenings spent in port or when a special event such as a deck party is scheduled. In these cases, the choice of dress is left entirely to you.
As general guidance, the number of formal nights onboard is as follows:
2-5 Nights -1 formal night
6-20 Nights - 2 formal nights
21-41 Nights - 3 formal nights

What type of plug sockets are used on board?
Cabins are fitted with UK 3 pin sockets with some allowing for USB charging.
Do you arrange car parking at the ports?
We offer car parking all UK departure ports, with prices starting from £8.50 per car per night.
If booked directly with us, parking can be added via My Ambassador Sailing however if you are booked via a travel agent, parking must be added and paid via the booking agent.
Please note car parking must be booked at the very latest 2 working days before sailing and is subject to availability. You will not be able to pay on arrival if you have not pre-booked and will be refused entry to the car park.
